Fall

So it’s been several years since I last posted something on a blog. Why start again now? I don’t honestly know, I just felt like journaling online again. I forgot how easy it was. Anyway, much has happened in my life since my last post. Got a divorce, got remarried, and moved to Grosse Pointe, Michigan. What a mouthful.

I’m not going to post the details of my divorce here, but it was an amicable split. Well, as peaceful as it could have been. No split is ever without it’s messes. I will however post about being remarried, because she is the love of my life. We met on match.com and got married pretty quickly. We have been married now for 8 years and together for 9. Do the math. She makes me very happy and I have grown so much as a person because of her. Thanks to her my family grew by a son she had in a previous marriage and he is a wonderful stepson. My girls are both in college as of today, one graduates in a month. They are happy and healthy.

Sparty and Melody are the current pets and they are mostly good dogs.

I’ve been living up North again for just over a year now and I have made it through 4 full seasons. The seasons are wonderful. That tree pictured above was a picture I took on the street I live. Fall is beautiful. Temperature wise, it’s pretty nice but would be considered Winter where I used to live in Orlando. I don’t mind it though, I like wearing Fall/Winter clothes. Perhaps it’s just the novelty of doing so more than I used to, but for now I enjoy it.

I’m still on the ice playing hockey if you were wondering, and still a goalie. I’ve slowed down a bit, but still enjoy being out there and being in Michigan provides many more opportunities and places to be on the ice.

Michigan has proven to be a wonderful place to live. I feel so much more free here than I did in Florida. It’s a more liberal state so we are allowed to do things like gamble at a casino or use marijuana if you so choose. The taxes are higher and the roads are mostly in need of repair, but the people are all very nice. “Mid-western nice” is a real thing. Being so close to Detroit has it’s perks too. I get to go to MLB baseball games with the Tigers and NHL games with the Red Wings. I’d go to NFL games for the Lions if I could afford the tickets! For me going to these games are a great luxury and I enjoy it very much.

I still work in IT although I work from home now and have since 2020 when Covid hit. My current company is based in Switzerland and I go to Europe around once per year on work related business. I’m not so much a programmer now as I am a systems engineer. I’m the guy who keeps the computers in the cloud running. So no, I can no longer fix your WordPress site, at least not quickly anyway.

What this blog turns into I’m not sure. It’s my little place on the Internet and I have no grand plans for it other than to dump my thoughts on topics I feel like writing about. I don’t even care if anyone actually reads it or if I’ll ever promote it to be read. For now, I’m just writing to write and hopefully feel better for doing so.

Until next time,

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
